These guys make some decent music, they do a good job aping Jersey sounds from the 90's with a more contemporary feel. On a basic level a lot of their tracks "work". My problem with them is not with the actual music but the band name. Do you player, don't put Detroit on your chest when you aren't doing anything for the city other than appropriating the music it put on the map and helped invent. And for the people who disagree with me and say "it's all about the music, it's good music it doesn't matter where they are from" yes it doesn't matter where one is born, you are correct, but if some black guys from Detroit moved to Holland and started a company called Dutch Windmills selling windmills don't you think they would be met with just a little incredulity? Or outright scorn. But you will never see that because it's not authentic, it's faking the funk but these guys here have gone and done it and are enjoying successful careers. Just food for thought

April 30, 2016"The biggest common denominator was music from Detroit—Motown stuff, a lot of Detroit hip-hop and other things. So when we finally started this project, we wanted to pay homage to our biggest musical connection. But we didn’t want to sound like we were saying we’re from Detroit—so the Swindle part was added to be a little tongue-in-cheek, and to let people know that we’re not actually from Detroit. Sometimes people don’t understand it, though—we have to explain it."
I am originally from the Netherlands, so maybe I understand my country fellowmen's humor a little better. I would say: just enjoy their great music and....smile!
