James Jamerson Jr. (b. 1958, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. - d.March 25, 2016) was an American soul bassist. He began his career in the late 1960's as a session musician. In the mid-1970's he formed the group Chanson with his long time musical cohort David Williams (4). In the 1980's he resumed playing as a session bassist with various artists including Originals, Karen Pree and Stargard. He is the son of James Jamerson and father of Derrick Jamerson.
