Initially started as Tenetz's solo project, Thy Serpent's recording career started with two short demos, "Frozen Memory" (1994) and "Into Everlasting Fire" (1995). The success of these demo tapes soon lead to a record deal with Spinefarm Records and as a result Tenetz started to gather other members to complete the band's line-up for the recording of their first album "Forests Of Witchery" (1996). During the recording session they also re-recorded songs from the original 1994-95 era demos and these were eventually released as "Lords of Twilight" (1997).
Band's most successful album yet, "Christcrusher", was released in 1998 and after this Thy Serpent also performed live for the first time. Tenetz however wasn't too interested in touring and the group has not played live since then.
For their next release the group went through some line-up changes and the renewed band recorded the "Death" EP, which was released in 2000. This is also the band's latest release to date as Tenetz became more busy with working at Spinefarm/Spikefarm Records and later with his own KVLT label/shop.
