Death Cult

Band formed by Ian Astbury after the break-up of the key "positive punk" band, The Southern Death Cult, retaining two-thirds of the name. Originally formed in 1983, the band dropped the Death part of the name in 1984 and made its first appearance on the Channel 4 television show "The Tube" as The Cult. Raymond Taylor Smith (aka Ray Mondo) was the first drummer for Death Cult and then replace by Nigel Preston
