Born on 28.03.1947 in Oakland, USA.
Founding member of the jazz-funk band The Herbie Hancock Group who recorded the epic album "Head Hunters" & later released material as The Headhunters in the 1970s. Since 1985, he moved his residence to Japan and continued to be active in many aspects of the Japanese music scene.

This guy is amazing. His contributions to funk influenced jazz music and his contributions to bass playing in general are enormous.
