Present

Profile:
Belgian RIO/avant-progressive rock band formed in 1979 led by guitarist/composer Roger Trigaux. Disbanded in 1985 and reformed in 1993.
This came as a side project from Belgian avant-gardism group Univers Zero. As guitarist Roger Trigaux left that band, he got help from Marie-Anne Polaris (vocals), Alain Rochette (piano), Christian Genet (bass) and Daniel Denis (drums). Their music is incredibly somber (sinister is also appropriate) as it was on Univers Zero but here the music is electrified, more energetic and more constructed, as there is "normal song construction" if that ever meant anything to those musicians. Present's music is really hard to categorize and to give names of bands to tell you the sound would be misleading you.

The irony is that the picture used to illustrate the band page was taken the exact day this line-up ceased to exist (somewhere in the summer of 1997); the picture was taken for the booklet of the fifth album "Certitudes", which was released in 1998, but was never played on stage by that line-up. The same day, another picture was taken with the line-up that was about to cross the ocean for the '98 North American Tour (documented on the live "A Great Inhumane Experience"). From that moment and for all the subsequent records, the core line-up was Roger Trigaux (guitar), Reginald Trigaux (guitar), David Kerman (drums), Pierre Chevalier (keyboards) and Keith Macksoud (bass). Note that Roger Trigaux passed away on March 10 2021 (one week ago).
