Head of 20th Century Fox Music and composer; brother of Lionel Newman and Emil Newman, father of David Newman, Thomas Newman and Maria Newman, uncle of Randy Newman.

Born March 17, 1900 New Haven, Connecticut, USA- and died February, 17 1970. He collected 9 Oscars for the soundtracks he wrote, most of them for 20th Century Fox movies. He also wrote the well-known 20th Century Fox fanfare that is played at the start of 20th Century Fox movies. His last score was "Airport" in 1969.
