One of the best pickers there was.. Chet Atkins was his mentor, but Jerry caught up to him over the years and had developed a more of a banjo-style rolls to his style than Chets smoother touch, giving it more a humorous approach. Yet he was also a fantastic songwriter, and a great showman on stage. Probably has my favouring song about the love topic than any one ("A thing Called Love" from Nashville Underground LP). He always preferred the classical nylon string guitar above anything else compared to Chet´s signature Countryman Gretch. Never took a commercial dive either. The whole Elvis story of him coming down from carp fishing up in north of Nashville to the studio to play 'Guitar Man' because Elvis own guitarist couldn´t pick it quite like Jerry is totally him. Never sold out, always humped around his beat up pickup like a true Nashville musician.
