"Now listen her son..."
One of the best pickers there was.. Chet Atkins was his mentor, but Jerry caught up to him over the years and had developed a more of a banjo-style rolls to his style than Chets smoother touch, giving it more a humorous approach. Yet he brought that humour into studio and stage, but was also a fantastic songwriter and a great showman.
Chet & him were good pals, but Jerry had his own distinkt flare to pickin´ that Baldwin. few could imitate his style.
Probably has my favourite love song than any one else ("A thing Called Love" from Nashville Underground LP). He always preferred the classical nylon string guitar above anything else because he always chipped his nails on steel strings. He never took a commercial dive either. The whole Elvis story of him coming down from carp fishing up in north of Nashville to the studio to play 'Guitar Man' because Elvis own guitarist couldn´t pick it quite like Jerry is never grows old.
Never sold out, always humped around his beat up pickup like a true Nashville musician til the very end. We miss you Jerry..
