In one of his recent interviews, Daniel Miller described Arca in the wake of a certain "Fad Gadget". Knowing the nature of Frank Tovey's (literally speaking) body of work, such suggestion is, of course, totally in place - except Arca is physically and audibly pushing way towards the even more unsettling territory.

While there is considerable amount of (personal) negativity in the whole project, Arca provokes thought as if cutting in with a knife, daring the listener to watch the raw stiches that follow; think of the early Zos Kia/Coil/PTV performances/ritualistic videos - and Arca's glitchy music/delivery is definitely on par, especially with Coil.

Repulsive for some, art for others, but rewarding an experience just the same.

After five albums and a bunch of EPs, files and collaborations, including musical transformations
its time to say that Arca is one of the most influential artists of todays music. Not only as a producer and musician
but also as a person who now is ready to let us be part of his dissipation.
Sex, love, pain, are basic issues of our lifes and he is letting us know how he feels ...and cries about it.
He is translating it into music and his friend Jesse Kanda translates it into 'sort of appropiate' visuals.
And if you have the chance to see them live (like I had a few days ago in London) you will see how they translate it into life.
Which is like no one did before: explicite, brutal, melancholic, tender and overwhelming.
