The unpronounceable symbol is an alias used by Prince from June 7 1993 to May 16 2000 - he changed his stage name to the symbol which is a combination of the symbols for male (♂) and female (♀). Because the symbol is unpronounceable, he's often referred by others as "The Symbol", "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince", "T.A.F.K.A.P.", or simply "The Artist" - the formally correct term (later copyrighted & printed on releases) is "Love Symbol".
