A.K.A. Muscle Shoals Sound Rhythm Section and The Swampers. A group of session musicians who left Fame Recording Studios, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in the late 1960s to build Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Sheffield, Alabama. The founders are Barry Beckett (keyboards), Roger Hawkins (drums), Jimmy Johnson (4) (guitar) and David Hood (bass). They became known as The Muscle Shoals Sound Rhythm Section and were the first rhythm section to own a studio and eventually run their own publishing and production companies. They appeared on more than 500 recordings and more than 75 gold and platinum hits.
