Dean Boysen is a Bay Area native of California. He is a trumpeter, composer and an arranger. Dean serves as the Artistic Director for the BRAZZISSIMO! 10-piece brass ensemble - since 2012. Dean has been writing and performing for the ensemble for twenty-four years contributing in excess of forty original compositions and arrangements. In addition to his brass dectet music, he also arranges and composes for the brass quintet and trio, woodwind ensembles, big band, and orchestra. Dean began playing professionally at the age of 16 (1974) which included nightclub top-forty band work, Marriott's Great America theme park musician, and that of studio musician (1976 -1983). His record album credits number in the dozens. He was a signed recording artist with the group Collage under the SOLAR records label, distributed by RCA Records. He recorded with many popular national recording artists and played for various shows such as the The Bay Area Music Awards - Bammies (1979 - 1982), and concerts with The Four Tops, Sylvester, Huey Lewis, Third World, Temptations, Dr. Loco's Rockin' Jalapeño Band, etc. He is Principal Trumpet for The Diablo Symphony Orchestra (2018-current) and performs regularly with the California Pops Orchestra, Gabriel's Heraldic Trio, and The Musical Toy Soldiers.
Performance and writing genres include: Jazz, Funk/Soul, Latin, Pops, Classical and Brass Chamber music.
