These guys are musical gods, Just wish they would officially release or re-release their earlier work like acid memories, hooper bay, afew old tunes exc.........But i guess some things are best left out of reach.

They are too absent between each album. I do not think these guys live exclusively on BOC.

Boards Of Canada really are a time signature analysts dream.

I really hope they release their early material aka. "a few old Tunes 1 & 2" and the so-called "35 Random Track". There is so much special material on there. Feed the fans Boc! we all want it <3

This Scottish duo came to the surface on the influential Skam label in 1996. Their ability to combine loping, Trip-Hop beats with modulated, warm, muted electronics was immediately apparent. This earlier EP showed a heavy debt to Electro while laying down the specifics for the themes that they would pursue on their debut record, Music Has the Right to Children. Released in '98, the record was a bright light in the haze of electronic music that year, marked by stripped-down warm tones, handclaps, random vocal samples and melodies which seemed childlike (but these children were playing on a much colder, enshrouded playground). Their slow motion Funk has also been captured on a recent Peel Sessions release.

A cool band that can be both soothing and groovy.

Hands down, BOC is one of the most innovative bands of all time. "Music Has The Right To Children" is undeniably one of the finest albums of all time. Little kids giggling alongside synthesizer pads and devastating kick drums? An out of place "I think" sample placed after mysterious atmospheres and backwards/back-spun vocal samples overlaying hypnotizing droning percussion? Genius.

The sampling techniques used on "Hi Scores" is proof of BOC's masters of the craft status. You don't get any more intricate than that.

That's more than The Beatles, Pink Floyd & The Rolling Stones.

The music of Boards Of Canada taps into a unique nostalgia fueled by memories which seem tantalisingly out of reach, who's provenance exists in infantile and possibly even foetal recollections of transmitted material from the outside world. With this in mind, the feeling of warmth and passive content which the listener achieves is no happy accident, though it certainly does make me happy!

Possibly my favorite band ever. Amazing, haunting music made with synthesizers, drum machines, guitars, and drum kits all fed through vintage tape machines. This is possibly the only band where I can say that I've enjoyed every single track put out by them. BOC can do no wrong.
