The Rockets started as a vocal group featuring the well-known Sallie Daniels and at a later stage Walter Brown. The group later evolved into Robbie Jansen, George Carelse, Molly Baron and Carlo Paulsen. Robbie Jansen and George Carelse left to pursue different careers. John Molly Barron recruited brothers Claude and Frank Brown, Colin Bones Delight , Clifford Valentine and Jerry Watt. Claude Brown left the group and The Big Five lineup was born....Molly Barron as drummer and leader, Frank Brown - Bass, Jerry Watt - Lead guitar, Clifford Valentine - Keyboards, and Colin Bones Delight - Lead vocals. This lineup joined the management company of Clive Calder and the same stable as Richard Jon Smith, Lionel Petersen, Ronnie Joyce, Jonathan Butler , Cecil Mitchell, and Sophia Foster amongst others. The Rockets also doubled as the backing band for all these artist on The Richard Jon Smith Show adding Teaspoon Nedlu, Stompie Manana, and Mike Makhalemele on brass during the tours. They recorded three albums with the CCP Record Company on the very successful Bullet label , Loving You, The Rockets featuring Bones Delight, and A place in the sun. Mike Fuller took over the management of the group and they had reasonable success with the albums Check it out and Thank you, Thank you. Thank you album featured the vocals of the extremely talented Ronnie Joyce and colin Bones Delight. Ronnie Joyce left the group and Colin Bones Delight left a while later. At one stage the group saw the return of founding member George Carelse and he brought with him Wilfred Aploon, Ronnie Joyce etc. The line up changed several times including Ricardo Groenewald, Alistair Izobell, Theo Watt, Ian Herman, Devenish Hendricks, Marlon Roach, Arnold Mei, Angie, Revon Noble etc. The group continues to record and perform under the leadership of Gerald Jerry Watt
