NDR Sinfonieorchester

German radio orchestra based in Hamburg and affiliated to the public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). In English, the name is usually given as the Hamburg Radio Orchestra.

It was founded as the Orchester Des NWDR Hamburg (affiliated to Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk) in 1945 and renamed to NDR Sinfonieorchester in 1955/56. Since April 2016 the orchestra is residing at the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg as the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester.
