Ed Chalpin

Ed Chalpin

Profile:
Ed Chalpin was an entrepreneur and record producer. On October 15, 1965, Chalpin signed a three-year recording contract with Jimi Hendrix and his New York based R&B band, Curtis Knight & The Squires. The contract gave Hendrix 1% of any royalties that his recordings earned and the sum of "one dollar." After leaving Chalpin and Knight, Hendrix went on to achieve fame, but many years of legal battles ensued regarding that first contract with Chalpin.
In September 2000 Chalpin became Administrator of Michael Jeffery Estate.

On July 5, 2002 a London High Court order was issued which read: "Ed Chalpin / PPX Enterprises Inc must not issue or release recordings on which Jimi Hendrix performed in any capacity whatsoever (other than 33 songs with Jimi Hendrix as a sideman)."

Director of PPX International, Inc. including PPX Productions, PPX, PPX Enterprises, PPX Records, PPX Publishing Co..
Father of the 'pop singer' Sam Chalpin
Chalpin also ran Studio 76 aka PPX Studios which later became Dimensional Sound Studios, N.Y.
