Yes I actually was freaked out when I saw the news at my private forum. I was like 76 I forgot his age actually... And then I'm looking everywhere how did this happen... And it was apparently kept extremely private from every news organization. I didn't know he was near sick or near death but apparently that's what been going on since ??? I saw the movie 30th Century Man at some point. I guess 2006 on ? So I'm more of a very later fan... Or I been trying hard to be. He early and past Tilt works... Two different musicians I have to say... But Nite Flights was a indication of things to come.... Interesting how he went in this direction. So now I have to spend more time in his memory and mine to play Scott 1967-1978 And Climates Of Hunter Scott 1984-2014... How did he pass ?

I am not someone to write public messages following someone else's passing, rather preferring to keep my emotions internal to avoid detracting attention from the figure in question, but I had to say how shocked I was to hear the news about Mr Walker. Truly a unique, innovative voice in music; as the comment below says so well, I can't see how there will ever be someone else like Scott Walker. Aside from his distinct compositional style, I think he was also the greatest lyricist of our times, transcending merely great lyrics into some of the finest modern poetry. As someone on the creative side of things, I owe everything to his words and music. I had trouble deciding on a favourite verse, and one which is appropriate, but I selected one from his album Soused, which muses on death and one where the personal seemed to manifest itself somewhat:
"Tonight my assistant will pass
Among you
His cap will be empty
Hey non-e, non-e
The most intimate personal choices and requests
Central to your personal dignity
Will be sung”.

Will be sung”.

Scott's passing is an absolute tragedy. There has never been and likely will never be another talent like his.
