Defining Asbestos as the quintessential hardcore band from japan would be misleading. First off, they're not even remotly akin to the Whole Burning Spirit umbrella, rather, the first wave of japanese hardcore (gruff vocals + the almost oblivious pummeling + the heavy metal-ish guitars) gone fucking mad - which means, refying those barbaric aspects in a well defined style. Or thrash/crust if you will. The Whole "cruster than thou-we knew about Amebix " (and Lobotomia, i would add) was/is well claryfied by the graphics. Mind you - the first album is a scorcher, same goes from all their earlier outputs, yet they seems to get little to no love in the real of japanese punk madness. I might be wrong, i might be right, who cares. The second album kinda changed them into a full blown political thrash band. Either way, pick it up some shit and start pogoing, cos the boys deserve it.
