The Enemy (3)

Profile:

The precursor to Toy Love, The Enemy didn't release a record in their short career. But with their influence stretching far beyond the year or so they were active in the 1970s, they are easily one of New Zealand's most important bands.

The first punk group to come out of Dunedin, New Zealand. Though the band only existed from 1977 to 1978, they created a distinct, idiosyncratic style and popularised an 'original music is crucial' attitude which helped facilitate the development of several local music scenes in both Dunedin and New Zealand in general. Because of that, they are often seen as the starting point for the Dunedin sound. Though the band did not release any official recordings, some of their performances and their few-but-extensive studio recordings are available in bootleg form.
