Growing up within the UK's East Midlands region on a mixed diet of mid-late 1990s free party sound systems (DiY and Smokescreen), YSE first started out writing and releasing music back in 1998, alongside Matt Rhythm as one-half of Matlock super-duo Rhythm Plate.
By 2005 YSE's need to constantly evolve and experiment within different musical genres saw him touchdown with a deeper/techier house sound with his first ever solo remix coming out on San Francisco's Losonofono label. This was just ahead of signing his first full EP on Lost My Dog records a year later, provided a new solo-collaborative based platform for him to DJ and release music.
Today YSE is rarely DJing out but still releasing music through anonymous and small, independent record labels. As well as putting out music under various pseudonyms YSE continues to stylistically swim around within the electronic music gene pool - making him even harder to place into a specific musical genre.
