A life-long friend of The GTO's' Pamela Des Barres since high-school days, featuring in her book 'I'm with the Band' (1987).
Hayden is also a modest painter. He provided the cover art for Captain Beefheart And The Magic Band - Bluejeans & Moonbeams and has had minor exhibitions in the USA. Hayden is also associated with the 1986 California movement that helped the budding Berkeley punk scene at 924 Gilmore Street [aka Alternative Music Foundation], where artists like Billie Joe Armstrong & Sweet Children metamorphosed. The track 'Mascara' on John Frusciante - Niandra LaDes And Usually Just A T-Shirt is a small homage to Hayden.
Hayden also co-founded Alchemy Records with Mark Deutrom.
