Highway 9 was the third and final incarnation of a band that spanned a dozen years. The band first formed as a three piece under the name Mr. Reality. Under that name the band released one album in 1992 (https://www.discogs.com/Mr-Reality-Mr-Reality/master/907861).
After that project folded they changed their name to Samhill and put out one self-released album in 1998. Shortly after that release, they changed their name again, this time to Highway 9. Paying tribute to their home state of New Jersey and to the New Jersey sound crafted by Bruce Springsteen, they were signed to a major label deal with Epic. They were heavily promoted, but the band didn't catch on with listeners. They were dropped, and shortly after broke up.
