Formed in 2008 out of the ashes of a then faltering Connecticut Punk scene, which had only a year or two before had been a thriving outlet for the youth. Seany A (Kill Boys, Kulture Shock, Product of Waste, Sick Joke) Jim Chaos (Copyright Chaos, C-95, Kulture Shock) and Coy Graff (Stress bomb, Sick Joke) formed Bust It and recorded a demo that same year.
Since then the band has changed line-ups many times with Sean leaving to tour more with Product of Waste and drummer Jared Faucher (Eat and Run) and bassist Eren Lee joining up. This line up was able to record a demo in the spring of 2010 called “A demonstration” which could be considered one of Get Young Records first releases, as Rich Goenne had a hand in the production and distribution of said demo.
In the summer of 2010, Coy and Jim began to write for two guitars and a more refined sound. Coy had discussed stepping back from lead vocals and focusing more on guitar, so Jim recruited ex Kill Boys front man Brett Asselin as the new vocalist. With this addition the band began to play a lot more shows in the tri-state area, Philly and Boston and writing and recording what would become their debut Ep.
The Ep “Hell is Other People” was released in the winter of 2011 as Get Young Records official first release. The band , who were really inspired by early hardcore and punk, decided to take a more minimalist approach with the recording process, playing the entire album live at Carlo Freese’s Screaming Sound studio in Middletown, CT.
The record was released just in time for the bands tour of California. They spent two weeks on the West Coast, playing with bands such as Bear Trap, Caulfield, All Teeth and Sabertooth Zombie. Following their return they played again all over the place and staying true to the basement and hall scene that first embraced them.
The summer of 2012, found Bust it , on the road again, touring the Midwest, South and East Coast and were fortunate enough to play alongside acts such as Kingdom, Mother of Mercy, Media Blitz and Walk the Plank.
Since coming back to New England Bust It has been working on a full length LP. In the meantime, the group continues to deliver full on, in your face, live shows, which is what Bust It truly is all about.
