Bob Montgomery

Profile:

American singer, guitarist, songwriter, engineer, producer, publisher and label executive. Born May 12, 1937 in Lampasas, Texas. Died December 4, 2014 in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
From 1949-1955 Montgomery was the duet partner of Buddy Holly.
Montgomery moved to Nashville in late 1959 and became a staff songwriter for Acuff-Rose Publishing.
In 1963, Montgomery formed Talmont Music as his own publishing company. He sold it in 1967 prior to becoming the head of the United Artists Records country division.
In 1969, Montgomery formed House Of Gold with Bobby Goldsboro. After it was sold in 1982, Montgomery became the Director of Creative Services at Tree International.
When Sony bought Tree International in 1988, Montgomery became a vice president at CBS Records.
Montgomery was also a recording engineer at Petty Sound Studios.
Husband of Carol Montgomery from 1957 to 1992. Father of Kevin Montgomery.
