Farangis Nurulla-Khoja

Tajik-Swedish-Canadian contemporary composer, living in Canada, born September 2, 1972 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

She began her musical education in her hometown, first studying piano at the Z. Shahidi Special Music School (1979–1990) and then oriental musicology at the Institute of Art (1990–1994). From 1992 to 1993, she was a researcher in music technology at the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford, which led to a dissertation on Tajik and Chinese music tradition. In 1994–1999 she attended the composition class at the Academy of Music at the University of Gothenburg for Ole Lützow-Holm and later she studied composition at the University of San Diego.

Farangis Nurulla-Khoja was elected to the Swedish Composers' Association in 2008.
