English musician, most notable for his work as (guitar initially and) bass player, singer and songwriter with Swansea (Wales) power pop band Badfinger. Born 5 June 1947 in Liverpool, England, UK - He committed suicide in his garden (in New Haw, Runnymede Borough, Surrey, England, UK) at the age of 36 on November 19, 1983.
He sang with Them Calderstones in Liverpool when he was invited to join The Iveys in London. He joined the band (that eventually changed its name to Badfinger in November 1969) in August 1967. His high-career moment came with the composition "Without You" -a #1 worldwide hit-, co-written with bandmate Pete Ham.
