Alternative Rock (Modern Rock) band from Oxfordshire, England (United Kingdom).

The name Radiohead comes from the Talking Heads song, "Radio Head", from the "True Stories" album.

Formed by school friends in 1986, Radiohead did not release their first single until 1992's "Drill EP". The cathartic "Creep", from the debut album "Pablo Honey" (1993), became a worldwide hit as grunge music dominated radio airwaves.

Radiohead were initially branded as a one-hit wonder abroad, but caught on at home in the UK with their second album, "The Bends" (1995), earning fans with their dense guitar atmospheres and front man Thom Yorke's expressive singing. The album featured the hits "High & Dry", "Just" and "Fake Plastic Trees".

The band's third album, "OK Computer" (1997), propelled them to greater attention. Popular both for its expansive sound and themes of modern alienation, the album has been acclaimed by critics as a landmark record of the 1990's, some critics go as far to consider it one of the best of all time. "Kid A" (2000) marked further evolution, containing influences from experimental electronic music.

"Hail To The Thief" (2003) was seen as a conventional return to the guitar and piano-led rock sound. After fulfilling their contract with EMI, Radiohead released "In Rainbows" (2007) famously via a pay-what-you-want model. Their latest album, "A Moon Shaped Pool", was released in May 2016.

Radiohead's original influences were cited as alternative rock and post-punk bands like The Smiths, Pixies, Magazine, Joy Division, and R.E.M. (with lead singer of the band, Thom Yorke, refering to himself as an 'R.E.M. groupie').

All Radiohead is great, but everything - EVERYTHING - from Kid A and beyond is an absolute masterpiece.

I was once one of those people who hated on Radiohead just to be cool. However, after listening to Kid A, I realized how fantastic they are. They are also one of the bands that swayed me into expanding my horizons musically. One of my favorite bands for sure.

At "worst" (meaning "Pablo Honey"), Radiohead were no less than good, but in that "good" was audible humbleness the group learned a great deal from, growing away and artistically stronger with every next album. And that's worth all the respect and praise Radiohead deserve from many. However, while it wasn't their intention, Radiohead were never free from hype - and this is where opinions clash regarding their artistic credibility against the media pomposity surrounding the group ever since "Creep". Luckily, Radiohead moved away from their smash hit baby eons ago.

My most important band of all times with Sigur Ros. I just don't know what to say, it's like a blind touch to destiny. This music.

I wouldn't know where to begin with respect to my appreciation for the members of the band Radiohead, like my respect for music itself, but I DO know that I would have to check myself if I ever began any minor critique of their work by labeling them as an "indieband". And I would most certainly find an excellent excuse to be fully committed to a padded room if I ever came close to whispering that this band is "overrated".......

I mean...JEE-SUS.

Let public opinion fall where it may and, of my own music interests, be damned. I find that most people could actually care less and I am happy that is the case.

Music - you either enjoy it or you do not. I fear for those who do not and in every way that I possibly can.
Radiohead - you do not have much of an option, you either love it and that's that or I completely tear apart your any pathetic attempt at the written word.
Your Opinion - perhaps something you should think about first (several times) before giving it.

If you want your opinions taken seriously then your writing skills must improve significantly.

Radiohead will be hard to beat by anyone or anything and THIS provides an amazing future for music where the bar has been set so wonderfully high.

Most overrated indieband. There was a time that it was cool and hip to say you loved Radiohead. Now in 2014 when other things are cool it is possible to look at this music with more nuance. Offcourse it is all personal and I think there are some genuine fans outthere, but let's face it: this is just mostly rubbish. I never discovered one good song from Radiohead, despite of some serious listening and trying to dig it. I'm into alternative music but this is just trash.

I am still mesmerised by the 'Kid A' title track.

The greatest rock band of the 90s & OOs without a doubt in my mind & one of the greatest musical acts of the twentieth century. Groundbreaking, innovative, unique, heart achingly beautiful music that transcends genres. They've constantly reinvented themselves - the sign of true musical greatness & not sticking to a formula. They have made bold political & social statements through their music, they have never sold out to mass 90s commercialism and fake marketing. I could go on and on - they really are a remarkable band & will go down as one of the all time greats, RESPECT.

The true successors to The Beatles in the sense of a band which starts out conventionally taking their audience with them on a voyage of musical discovery. The first time people heard 'Kid A' rates as one of those "what the fu..." moments alongside the time people first heard the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows".

Bold; groundbreaking; political yet playful; fantastic live; greedily embracing new technology whilst remaining skilled individual musicians - Radiohead are the finest British pop band for many years.

Singer Thom Yorke looks like a guy who walks in the road near where I live muttering to himself. I once had a conversation with him about cake - for the record, he liked Battenburg best.
