Iain Dixon

Profile:

Iain studied tenor saxophone and clarinet as a child in Lancashire before attending the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. After his studies, Iain moved to London where he played with the BBC Radio Orchestra and Big Band for eight years before becoming a freelance player.

Iain has played as a member of groups lead by Mike Walker, Julian Arguelles, Dave Green, Alan Barnes, Andy Schofield and Richard Iles as well as leading his own bands. He also plays as a member of the Creative Jazz Orchestra collective, organised by Nick Purnell. The CJO has toured with artists such as Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Perter Erskine and Mike Gibbs.

As a session player, Iain has appeared on many albums with artists as diverse as Joni Mitchel and Primal Scream.

In 2001 Iain moved back to Lancashire where he now lives. He is currently working with Mike Walker to produce his first solo album and is also touring with Bryan Ferry. In January 2003 he toured in New York, playing bass clarinet with Mike Brecker and Gil Goldstein.
