His anthology is immense. He has worked with every West Coast artist you can think of. He is from the original World Class Wrecking Crew DJ's, and still works very closely with Dr. Dre. DJ Battlecat mostly produces for Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Tha Eastsidaz, Kam and E-40.
His son, Blue Gilliam, is also a talented producer and musician. And Battlecat's younger brother is L.A. lyricist extraordinaire, Mykestro.
He is mentor of Grammy Award-Winning Producers Terrace Martin and 1500 Or Nothin.
Battlecat credits Rev. James Cleveland, Gospel and soul music, Funk, Zapp and Roger, A Tribe Called Quest, Raphael Saadiq, Pete Rock, and J Dilla as being his greatest musical influences. He produced a musical tribute to Roger Troutman called "Still More Bounce" (featuring Ras Kass, Tash and others).
In 2011, Battlecat joined a West Coast Super Group called 1st Generation, along with a roster of 8 other home town all-stars (Compton's Most Wanted, King Tee, Sir Jinx, Jayo Felony, Gangsta, Kurupt, etc.)
Battlecat is a collector of vintage production equipment, audio gear, etc. And he also plays various instruments, including keys and drums.
He also competes in the annual Cali DJ Battles and Mix Off's
