Fantastic band, sort of like a hybrid/best bits of Leftfield and Massive Attack. Why did they never make it big?

Wow... This Constant Chase For Thrills is one hell of an Album. Still looking and searching for similar works. It's a shame the band dosen't exist anymore. Similar i can recommend: Audioweb & Red Seal. Check it out if ya love The Aloof :-)

Seeking Pleasure may not be like their other work, but I think it is one of the best albums ever done by anybody- it's in my top 5 of all time.

Try approaching it from a non-trip-hop point of view. I play a lot of music in my shop (not a music shop), and Seeking Pleasure is the one that the most people have asked what was playing and then written it down to find later.

True innovators. The Aloof were (unfortunately disbanded) made up of members of The Sabres Of Paradise, Red Snapper, West London Deep, and led by vocalist Ricky Barrow. Ricky's soulful vocals floated over the devious lines of thick dub and trip hop beats with sultry ease like that of a crooner in a futuristic blues club.

"Cover The Crime", "Sinking" are classics. "Seeking Pleasure" was lacking in ingenuity and originality and their weakest release. Fortunately, the comeback and final album "This Constant Chase For Thrills" was a throwback to the earlier form and was a great way to go out.

I have never heard any other artist or act that quite melded these forms of music into the unique sounds that The Aloof created.

Come back Aloof! Come back...!
