Sometimes I feel bad for this guy. He could really shred on the guitar and the best selling record of his career happened because of the song Sister Christian. The first time I ever heard of Brad Gillis came from his appearance on the Speak of the Devil record that Ozzy Osbourne put out on Jet Records in 1982. I was only 3 years old at the time so I heard it around 8 or 9 years later. I thought it was a Randy Rhoads at the time. After the remastering orgy that the Ozzy Osbourne catalog experienced in the mid 90s I was finally able to get myself a copy to listen to every day. I was quite surprised to learn that the guitar player was not Rhoads, but was in fact Gillis. Not only that, I was taken aback and had to reconsider what I believed was a complete lack of talent in the 80s pop rock and hair metal genres. The Night Ranger records may have shared some moments of Gillis' brilliance on the guitar but never take advantage of them the way that continuing to play with Ozzy would have.
