The Endtables

Profile:

Seminal Louisville, Kentucky punk band, fronted by flamboyant giant Steve Rigot. When original bass player Joe Frey left for New York City, guitarist Alex Durig taught his 15-year-old brother Albert to play bass. In September 1979, this lineup of Rigot, Durig, Durig, and drummer Steven Jan Humphrey recorded six songs at local studio Real to Reel with engineer Jeff Carpenter. The band self-released four of the six songs on a 7" late that year and then split in the spring of 1980. Steve Rigot and Steven Jan Humphrey went on to form Monsters (4) and the Durigs started Melusian. The Endtables reunited for a single show in 1984. The other two songs from the 1979 recording session were finally released by Louisville label Self Destruct in 1991. In 2010, all six studio recordings were released together for the first time by Drag City. The band played a reunion show at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas in 2011.

In 2013, Steve Rigot, Alex Durig, Joe Frey, and former Rodan drummer Kevin Coultas played a single performance as The Endtables at the Cropped Out festival in Louisville.

Steve Rigot died in 2015.
