Barry Socher

Profile:

Barry Socher (died October 22, 2016, aged 68) was an American violinist, composer and educator.

He served in the first violin section of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra from 1981 until his retirement in 2016. Socher had also been concertmaster for the Los Angeles Master Chorale Orchestra, Pasadena Pops Orchestra, The Fresno Philharmonic and the Ojai Festival and Oregon Bach Festival orchestras. He founded the Armadillo String Quartet, taught at Idyllwild School of Music and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute, and served on the faculties of Pomona College and the University Of Southern California.
