The Black Angels

Profile:
Hometown: Austin, Texas, USA.
Genres: Psychedelic Rock, Neo-Psychedelia, Garage Rock.
Taking their name from the classic The Velvet Underground tune "The Black Angel's Death Song," these Angels are far more than classic revisionists with extensive record collections. This is heavy-duty psychedelic rock with an incessant primitive beat that echoes the spirit of the 13th Floor Elevators and early Rolling Stones.

If you want the special Levitation Sessions Vinyl, then you can use the link on the bc-site now. After nearly 4 hours still all 3 variants available, as declared on website limited to 1000 each. There also also 2 other variants for Indie shops, different for US and UK/Europe, limitation not mentioned if I did see right.

Young Dead Men by The Black Angels used in a beer commercial, PUKE! Bill Hicks must be rolling in his grave. Long time fan and collector and now look for items on eBay. I've looked the other way on other BS this band has given premission or at least, collected a check for use of their music but a beer commercial and the fact that it's young dead men, makes me sick. When I'm not busy thinking about my young family member(s) sent off to kill women and children in the back in another country, I look to The Black Angels who want me to think for myself but now I can just sit on the couch and get fat and stupid, drinking beer and enjoy commercials on TV. Some nut ranting, sure, and they actually do make some decent tunes but selling out, selling anything to be used in any sort of advertising/marketing aspect....No wonder Hunter S. Thompson is gone. BJM for Capital records. Bill Hicks for Orange Drink. Once sunshine makers, now, blue sunshine. What's Nate Ryan up too? Does he get. royalties? Well, as the kids say, whatevs. "Alcohol kills more people annually than crack, coke, and heroin combined." -Bill Hicks-

To the new dawn,

The Black Angels blew me away when I finally got to see them live recently, not just musically but also with some very appropriate psychedelic visuals. Constantly swapping instruments between themselves, you even get treated to a sitar player and a hot drummer. I appreciated how they let their music do the talking rather than being overly extroverted. These angels are well worth seeing live and their records are being snaffled up by savvy collectors. Highly recommended.
