Boomkat states this artist is one of the "most distinctive electronic composers and voices of her generation," but is that now the standard? If you successfully mix a couple of styles and imitations for an audience that isn't so familiar with what came before them - you're one of the best?
I'm not really trying to down this particular artist as much as I am trying to gather a better understanding for what now constitutes a musical leader...a boundary pusher.
Aside from all that, this is just modern, indie pop. How in the world can it be confused with experimental if it is simply copying a handful of other artists (while throwing out all the ingredients that made them exciting!) that did it better? Is it just me, or does this music sound like a poor imitation of glitchy grime being delivered by Throbbing Gristle?
