Jan Jansz. Starter

Profile:

Jan Jansz. Starter (Amsterdam, 1593 - Hungary, September 1626) is the author of, among other things, love poems, farces, etc. His collection "Friesche Lusthof" (1621) - he lived in Leeuwarden from 1614 - became a sales success, partly due to the introduction of English melodies (his parents were from England.). However, the success did not bring him great wealth and, moreover, he died young, five years after the publication of the beautifully published book. He died as a 'history writer' in an army.
