Leonie Gombrich-Hock
Leonie Gombrich (1873–1968) was a distinguished Austrian-British pianist and music educator, mother of an art historian Ernst H. Gombrich. She studied at the Vienna Conservatoire with Anton Bruckner, graduating with the School's Medal of Distinction, and worked as an assistant of Theodor Leschetizky. Gombrich personally knew Arnold Schoenberg, Gustav Mahler, Johannes Brahms, Hugo Wolf, and was a close family friend with pianist Rudolf Serkin and violinist Adolf Busch. Members of The Busch Quartet regularly met and rehearsed at her home.
