Why are their vinyl re-releases not a in a box set with a gorgeous hardcover book?! Is this just so that they can be resold as such in the future?!

Early Pink Floyd recordings make space travel superfluous so long as we have keyboards here on Earth. Back when enigmatic lyricist and acid-eater extraordinaire Syd Barrett skippered the ship, the Floyd sounded something like Monty Python with instruments -- quirky, trippy and weird. Barrett made Bedlam seem a reasonable price to pay for such gems as "Bike," "Lucifer Sam," and the Space Rock tour-de-force "Astronomy Domine." Upon Barrett's departure, the only marginally less maniacal Roger Waters took on singing and songwriting duties. The band dug even deeper into labyrinthine song structures, but nothing prior had prepared the world for 1973s Dark Side of the Moon. The concept album par excellence, Moon utilizes a narrative lyric structure and musical leitmotifs to give the album a sense of coherence. These compositional strategies culminated in '79s harrowing magnum opus, The Wall, an unflinching look at England's soul -- its educational system, its flirtations with fascism, the conservatism leading up to Thatcher. After Waters' defection, the remaining members came down with a crippling case of the blands but decided to stick it out, releasing a series of flashy (note '95's Pulse), nostalgic commodities that basically sounded like David Gilmour solo efforts (even if they continued to sell like genuine Pink Floyd productions). Pink Floyds influence on music is far less subtle than people realsie compared to bands such as joy division, led zeppelin, the beatles etc, listen to bands like spiritualized, radiohead, tame impala and that pink floyd echo still rings to this day, that psychedelic, eerie build up in songs was to prove a hallmark in pink floyds music.

Anyone out there know if there is a copy of the unedited Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 out there on 45? I've searched everyone on this site and they're all the 3 minute version. Any help would be appreciated.

Seriously --- can we not move the interview releases to some other location?!?! It looks bonkers listing them alongside their main studio album releases.

There's talk going around of an expansive Early Years box set, due in November. I'm sure that the wider music community will have their wallets ready if this is confirmed to be true.

One of the best the world had to offer, but after The Wall, they were done. Period. Everything riding on the name from that point is uninspired garbage.

They have announced today that they are to re-release their entire catalogue on vinyl. I CAN'T WAIT!

I also hope that they will re-release Relics, Delicate Sound of Thunder and Pulse (please, for the love of god, Pulse!) and even all the early singles. A Live at Pompeii vinyl release wouldn't be too bad either.

Never saw them with Syd,or Waters, only Gilmour, Wright and Mason. Had the fantastic pleasure of being security for them at a gig in London, only 20 feet from the stage. They even paid ME for the evening. Many thanks for all your music and being a starting point for music fans of all ages. Your legacy will shine on.
