Since 1981, Kevin has produced programmes for BBC Radios 1, 2 and 4. He has received 23 Sony Radio Award nominations and won four Golds for his productions. In 1996, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for the album The Beatles Live At The BBC. He also writes books and album sleeve notes. He has been interviewed many times on radio, TV and social media. He left the BBC in 1995 to establish the independent production company Howlett Media Productions. From April 1998 to July 2016, Kevin Howlett/Howlett Media Productions produced the weekly BBC Radio 2 programme Paul Gambaccini with America’s Greatest Hits. He has also produced a variety of documentary programmes for the network about artists ranging from Larry Adler and Nigel Kennedy to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. He produced the acclaimed series Jac Holzman's Elektra Story and Music In The Air: A History Of Music Radio.
He has written the booklet essays for all fourteen of The Beatles’ albums remastered in 2009. He wrote the notes and produced the ‘Fly On The Wall’ bonus disc for the 2003 Beatles remixed album Let It Be ...Naked. He wrote the essays for The Beatles' albums Live At The BBC (1994) and On Air - Live At The BBC Volume 2 (2013 - also executive producer). He is the author of six Beatles books. The most recent are The Beatles: The BBC Archives 1962 - 1970 and, included in vinyl LP box sets, The Beatles In Stereo and The Beatles In Mono.
