New German Psychedelic feature
Mandra Gora Lightshow Society
With one of the biggest mouthfuls as a band name, Mandra Gora Lightshow Society amount to a cultural junk shop mix of psychedelic styles. With one foot in 1960's Americana and psychedelia, and the other in the trip-rock/post-Krautrock field, they're a curious and schizophrenic band, who cover a lot of ground, much of it seemingly tongue-in-cheek. Side 2 of OVID'S GARDEN (Swamp Room/Hidden Records 301121) is the finest opus we've heard by them to date, complete with sitars, space electronics and Amon Düül II like instrumental drives.
