Melvin Moore (2)

Trumpet player and vocalist

With above vague description, this profile currently (May 2019) houses TWO artists, one trumpeter, one vocalist. Further records by the trumpet player is found as Mel Moore. An attempt to solve this in a forum discussion - - failed due to lack of response.
Below is a draft for a profile text for the TRUMPETER:
"US trumpet player, born June 15, 1923, in Chicago.
Played with Jimmie Lunceford 1942-1945, Lucky Millinder 1947, briefly with Duke Ellington 1948, 1950. After playing with rhythm and blues bands on he West Coast, he performed with Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1964. Later he recorded with Gil Fuller and Gerald Wilson."

Re the SINGER:
"He should not be confused with the singer (b Oklahoma City, OK, c.1928), who performed with Don Albert (1936-7), Dizzy Gillespie (1949-50), Fletcher Henderson (c1950), and Lucky Millinder (c1950-c1952), and later sang in Panama Francis's re-creation of Millinder's band (1975)." (end of article on the trumpeter in The New Grove dictionary of jazz, 1988)
