Colin Lloyd-Tucker

Real Name:
Colin Lloyd-Tucker
Colin Lloyd Tucker began a solo career aged 17, with 'Toybox', on which he wrote, produced and played all the instruments himself. His record releases have been infrequent, his live shows rare and his sound not easily definable. He recorded 3 albums with Matt Johnson (of 'The The') in the early eighties. Colin was also in groups Bushtucker, The Gadgets, Jeremy's Secret and Plain Characters. Colin did not sign a major deal but on Kate Bush's "Red Shoes" his name mingles with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Prince.

Kate Bush, Johnny Marr, John Porter (producer), Glen Mattlock, Matt Johnson (The The) and even the late Lionel Bart have all sung the praises of CLT's songwriting and vocal skills and yet he remains largely unknown to the general public.
Criminally ignored by the mainstream press he remains fiercely independent, releasing material on his own Samphire record label to a small but devoted worldwide following.
He has never been possible to pigeon-hole, his style of leapfrogging genres from album to album, track to track has often resulted in the label 'eccentric' being applied to his work, always a handy if somewhat lazy description of a true original.
Born in London in 1958 he recorded his first solo disc (Toybox) whilst still in his teens, playing all the instruments himself and fully utilizing the eight-track recording technology of the day. More solo releases followed sporadically through out the 1980's, CLT was also involved in various other projects including The Gadgets, The The, Deux Filles and Jeremy's Secret.
Following a handful of releases in the mid 1990's (Remarkable, Songs Of Life and Liquid and Skyscraping, a collaboration with Paddy Bush) CLT seemed to disappear for some years, aside from the odd guest appearance on albums by other artists.
This all changed with formation of Samphire Records in 2006 with whom CLT has issued, on average, an album a year.
His style now mature, his voice better than ever, all of his Samphire releases are outstanding.
A true artist who lets his muse lead the way, unaffected by passing fads.
