We've waited for this day
We shared some tears of love now
Like a desert in the rain
When the sun of the day went down
There's nobody like my mom
There's no place like my home since I was born
When I was young
The flavor is so strong
I've missed it so long now
These people are my heroes
From distant sky
They light me up with flying clouds
This ever gets me high like a cool blunt smoke
I'm shining like the moon
I'm feeling like a bloom in the black sun
I remember when I was young
The flavor is so strong
I've missed it so long

I come to this from an alien perspective, it was a total surprise, possibly not my 'usual thing'. However, that is good - this music (and videos) deserves a wide public and music should transgress borders; otherwise we are all in our small boxes, and sometimes fighting each other. As well as being great dance music, there is little doubt this music is a calmly stated political message. It has already had a lot of attention, won prizes at Cannes etc.

For some reason, I happened upon the video for Virile, which I watched and really enjoyed, then Territory came on. My immediate reaction was "Here is something very special". It's a joy to listen to the music, especially when watching the video. Our media is saturated with images of division between race and religion. It is important to have the news, but sometimes its negative perspective, as a weight, can be oppressive.

The Territory video is a perfect antidote, (the rarer-seen on TV, but more normal) family and friend, the more human side of people is witnessed. The music and videos capture everything, joy and sorrow, simple things like lots of people asleep in a room a boy raising his arm. A guy snatching a cigarette and dancing away self-assured as the cigless guy wonders what is going on (a funny instant). A man shadow boxing to the music. The video builds up to show an emotive view of masculinity: not just the tough side, but the funny (when his dance morphs into a monkey chasing the kids), the moving, in tears at the beginning, and ordinary life with friends, whatever that means.

Really great.
