Max Webster

Max Webster

Profile:
Canadian progressive rock band formed in 1973 and based in Sarnia and later Toronto, Ontario. Vocalist and guitarist Kim Mitchell went on to have a solo career and has a radio show on Toronto's Q107.

Dubois and Mitchell composed the bulk of their music while Watkinson contributed several songs over the years as well.
Max Webster was first signed to Taurus Records, who issued their debut album in 1976. Several months later, the group was picked up by Anthem Records, who released all future Max Webster albums.

The band broke up in 1982. Mitchell cites the fact that they could not break in the States as one of the reasons they broke up.

I am a fan of Max Webster since 1976. I first saw Max with Rush during the Farewell To Kings tour. I started collecting Max Webster albums the day after seeing them LIVE. I was fortunate to be sitting stage side during the recording of half of the Album Live Magnetic Air at Guelph Ontario University War Memorial Hall. The other half of the album was reportedly done at The Lyric in Kitchener within days of the Guelph show. I am fortunate to know the band members and still see them occasionally when I am in the Toronto area. I will say they are humble guys and very interactive with their fans still. They truly are one of the greatest Canadian bands ever !
