Kavin (Kav) Sandhu
KAV is a alternative rock artist backed by his band. He also played guitar for Happy Mondays from 2004-2007. Last summer KAV was chosen by Kasabian to support them on a line-up with Band of Skulls at Brixton Academy. He also headlined Club nme at KOKO Camden. Plus shows in Hyde Park & Victoria Park for BT London Live Olympic Festival.
The sound has been compared in the press to The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Primal Scream, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club & Iggy Pop & The Stooges.
He is backed by his full live band which he started with his childhood friend James Portas. His current line -up is KAV - Vocals/Guitar, Dan McGarry - Guitar, Mikey Shine - Bass & J Kenna - Drums.
His debut solo album is being released in early March 2013 on suburban records, who also work with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Gaslight Anthem, The Horrible Crowes,The View, Bring Me the Horizon, Joss Stone, The Fall, Fear Factory & Cradle of Filth
Last October 2012 KAV supported The Farm featuring Mick Jones from The Clash & John Power from The La’s & Cast who were behind & part of The Justice Collective. They released He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother which was a UK number 1 single for Christmas 2012.
From May 2004 to September 2007 KAV played guitar for Happy Mondays and co-wrote their album Uncle Dysfunktional. He also co-wrote the track Playground Superstar title track for the film Goal! released on Oasis’s Big Brother label.
KAV has also worked with Welsh legend & author Howard Marks.
He released a track called Mr Nice feat Howard Marks (Jesse Rogg Mix) in 2010, surrounding a film of the same name about Howard Marks starring Rhys Iffans.
This was followed by Blaggers N’ Liars (2012) released in March 2012 & King Of The World (The Undefeated Champion) released in October 2012.
He has has also guested & played guitar many times for Datarock & guested on guitar for house DJ Tall Paul.
KAV’s album was produced by Josh Ostrander from the band Eastern Conference Champions & mastered by Stephen Marcussen (The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, Nirvana, Primal Scream & The Black Crowes).
He is also co-founder of music festival getloaded in the park.
KAV has also toured the World as a DJ on his own & with the likes of Shaun Ryder on line-ups including the legendary James Brown.
In the past KAV has worked with Engineers, Producers & Re-Mixers Marc Waterman, Gren Spencer, Dave Parkinson, Dan Oh, Nick Trepka & grammy nominee Jesse Rogg. KAV is currently working on a new project with Jesse Rogg who is the producer & band member for Sam Sparro.
KAV is currently recording new material for his second album before his live tour in 2013.
