George Crumb

American composer of modern classical and avant-garde music, born October 24, 1929 in Charleston, West Virginia and died February 6, 2022 in Media, Pennsylvania (aged 92). Noted for exploring unusual timbres, alternative forms of notation, and extended instrumental and vocal techniques. Defined music as "a system of proportions in the service of spiritual impulse". Married to Elizabeth Crumb. Father of Ann Crumb and David Crumb.
