A career of teaching music in public schools in the state of New York was followed by a period of self exploration and travel abroad and across the United States and Canada. A romantic man, John Burrows loved the music of the great European composers of the 19th century Romantic period. One of his favorite journeys was tracing the life of Chopin.
John prided himself on his athletic ability and well as his dedication to his beloved instrument. His daily routine included long distance running, tennis, golf, ice hockey, hiking or skiing. This was always preceded by two hours of practice that included his favorite Russian exercises and running scales and arpeggios up and down the keyboard. Afternoons and evenings, Mr. Burrows was back at the piano, either performing or working out his pieces.
Mr. Burrows passed away in November of 2012.
