Interesting musician and I will try to explain why.

I got to know his music through his mixes on betalounge.com and his involvement with the 2000-era minimal and glitch gang in San Francisco (Sutekh, Safety Scissors, Kit Clayton, Twerk, Portable, Ben Nevile, and so on).

One of the really essential things to understand about this music, is that the music he makes is not typically about a driving, progressive, force, like typical techno, house or dub techno. It explores and works more in the area of zones, environments and feelings, being more spanned and stretched-out. Neither am I saying that you cannot dance to his music, or that it is not progressive or uplifting, and because of this, the essential point is that his music has a different impact and effect on listeners.

I cannot think of many musicians who make music like he does, and I am not referring to what his music sounds like, but to the effect it has on listeners (people). More skiing than boxing!

What a great profile. I've been into Monolake since hearing Tangent, and a few of the earlier Chain Reaction 12s. I've loved watching his/their music develop... although mutate is probably a better term. The Tate Modern gig done by Robert Henke & T++ was particularly amazing. More more more!
