American singer-songwriter, born 24 June 1966 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Hope's first band was called Going Home, a folk band she formed with her friend Sylvia Gomez who played the guitar. David Roback recorded some songs with Going Home. Only 7 songs are known from this collaboration but to date have never been released. In 1988 Hope replaced Kendra Smith in the band Opal (2) which was created and headed by guitarist David Roback. In 1990, Opal transformed into Mazzy Star until the passing of David Roback in 2020. Hope has a band of her own called Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions. She has also collaborated with other artists like The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Chemical Brothers, Death In Vegas, Massive Attack, Bert Jansch and many more.
